ACGP Multi-Community Project Manager

Appalachian Community Grant Program

—

Ohio’s Appalachian communities had an unprecedented opportunity to secure funding for downtown redevelopment, destination development, and quality-of-life projects through the State’s $500 million Appalachian Community Grant Program. To help communities navigate the competitive process and advance projects with lasting local value, the Mayors’ Partnership for Progress engaged Neighborhood Strategies as multi-community project manager and advocate.

Helping Communities Secure Transformational Funding

Neighborhood Strategies supported MPP communities across 27 Southeast Ohio counties, helping local leaders define project needs, prepare planning documentation, and navigate Ohio Department of Development grant procedures. We also served as project manager for OMEGA, the Harrison County Board of Commissioners, the Jefferson County Port Authority, and the Belmont County Port Authority.

From Grant Applications to Project Implementation

Our team reviewed projects for ACGP and ARPA eligibility, coordinated with state and local partners, advocated for project inclusion, and authored key grant-application materials. For Ross County’s 16-county application, we prepared the evidence-based narrative supporting 32 towns and multiple universities.

Following award announcements, we managed projects for the Appalachian Downtown and Destinations Initiative and Ohio’s Wonderful Waterfronts Initiative, including the Black Horse Inn Underground Railroad Museum rehabilitation, the Village of Zaleski’s A Trail Town, A Mound Town project, and Racine's riverfront redevelopment.
