Perry Comprehensive Plan & Zoning Resolution

Perry Township, OH

—

Located in the Columbus, Ohio metro region and characterized by residential areas and farmland, Perry Township is facing predicted population growth due to major business expansion in the area. To proactively guide this growth, the Township partnered with Neighborhood Strategies to develop its first Comprehensive Plan and draft a Zoning Resolution to inform decision-making over the next five to ten years.

Creating a Roadmap for Growth & Preservation

Following a 2.5-year effort, our team led the development and adoption of the Township’s first Comprehensive Plan, providing a clear roadmap to manage development pressures and growth while preserving natural features, agricultural heritage, and rural character. Through public surveys, stakeholder engagement, and community education, the plan establishes future land use recommendations, infrastructure priorities, and policies to support sustainable growth and avoid unplanned development.

Shaping Zoning Regulations to Reflect Community Vision

To help implement this vision, our firm drafted Perry’s first zoning resolution, currently advancing toward adoption. Working closely with local leaders and residents, we dispelled zoning myths, gained public support for zoning, and held hearings to guide the process. Focused on preserving the rural lifestyle, protecting agriculture, and preventing undesirable land uses, this effort fostered regional collaboration among nearby townships and municipalities and aligned with the community’s Comprehensive Plan.
