The Energy Cooperative Awarded Over $6.5 Million in Federal Funds

The Energy Cooperative, a non-profit, member-owned utility serving more than 72,000 electric, natural gas, and propane accounts across central Ohio, has been awarded over $6.5 million from the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. The Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization Grant will fund the replacement of 10 miles of aging and deteriorating natural gas pipeline with modern, safe, and efficient infrastructure, ensuring the integrity and longevity of the natural gas distribution system for years to come.

This important project is expected to reduce methane emissions by 11.35 metric tons per year, contributing to a safer and more sustainable energy network. Neighborhood Strategies is proud to have written the successful grant application that made this funding possible.
