Granville Economic Development Strategy

Granville Village & Granville Township, OH

—

Renowned for its historic architecture, Denison University, and New England-style charm, the Granville area was anticipating rapid growth spurred by the $20 billion Intel Ohio One investment just 15 miles away. In addition to Intel-related development, the community experienced a 10% population increase since 2016 compared to only 5% job growth. To address these trends, boost local employment, and diversify the economy, the Village of Granville worked with Neighborhood Strategies to develop the Granville Economic Development Strategy.

Enhancing Employment & Diversifying Economic Opportunities

Built on insights gathered through immersive community engagement at local events and consultations, the plan focuses on attracting new businesses and supporting existing ones through initiatives like the Granville Sports and Health District and projects along the SR-16 Advanced Manufacturing Corridor. This strategy supports both the Village of Granville and the surrounding Granville Township, amplifying the efforts of the Granville Chamber of Commerce.

Centralizing Investment & Fostering Strategic Collaboration

A key element of the strategy is the formation of the Granville Area Community Improvement Corporation (GACIC). This entity serves as the central point for coordinating investment efforts and was modeled after successful practices from communities such as Powell and Dublin. Additionally, our team proposed the creation of a Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) to foster economic growth and resource sharing between the Village of Granville and Granville Township. This collaborative initiative was officially adopted by both entities in May 2024.
