Downtown Columbus Link Shared Communications Program
Downtown Columbus, OH
In 2008, Capital Crossroads and Discovery Special Improvement Districts, in partnership with the Division of Police, established a highly innovative and effective Public Safety Network to bridge the communication gap between private security and public law enforcement. This collaborative program enabled real-time information sharing via a shared radio communications channel, email crime alerts, and bi-monthly training meetings.
The program's success was driven by input and support from over 50 private security partners, who were empowered to provide surveillance and actively assist in the identification and apprehension of criminals. The network ensured downtown Columbus was served by a highly respected and coordinated team of public safety and private security professionals.
2008 - 2025
Project completed by current Neighborhood Strategies staff during their leadership of the SID Public Services Association.
